Swordlord
REALISTIC SWORD SWINGING ACTION
Swordlord was my first solo development release into the indie game scene! It was a complete blast to work on, and I’m pretty proud of how it came out. It was an awkward, silly, fun, manly and violent gladiator game with the aesthetics of a Commodore 64 title.
The main idea for Swordlord was to just get a little dude to swing a sword around him. I started prototyping a few kinds of sword swinging methods/ideas. One of which was just having the character be exactly where your mouse cursor is, and having a melee weapon swing on this position. But it was too floaty and weightless. I ultimately decided to use a physics system to control the melee weapon.
